[On Monday, a small package is left beside Kyouko's door. The wrapping paper is covered in cupcakes, and the ribbon looks like dot candies. On top of the present is an envelope. Inside the envelope is a handmade card. A note reads:]
Kyouko,
I'm glad we met. Please enjoy these treats!
Fondly, Regina
[Inside the present is an unopened package of Sn*ckers, the brand name smeared by a very inconvenient streak of Sharpie.]
[ When Kyouko wakes up in the morning, she opens her door to head to the dining hall. It's then that she discovers the package and brings it into her room to open. At first, she's unsure whether she should be suspicious about the gift or not, wondering if it's something from the witches, but ultimately, she opens the card and her eyes skim over it.
And then she promptly tears at the packaging, only afterwards thinking that maybe she should've been a bit more elegant with her unwrapping—the paper could've been worth keeping, after all (though she ribbon hasn't been destroyed, at least)—but that's all forgotten when she sees the candy, and she grins.
Whoever said you can't have candy for breakfast?
Still, she'll need to thank Regina for the gift when she sees her in the dining hall. ]
[Never let it be said that Loki isn't prompt as he arrives at Kyouko's door at exactly 7pm sharp, dressed for the evening. He knocks on the door, ready to drag her into town for dinner that is not under the watchful eyes of the Maeve.
He even has a taxi outside waiting for them and the reservations to the restaurant are set.]
Kyouko, I do hope you are ready.
[It's not like he doesn't know what a lazy slacker she can be.]
[ Kyouko has no idea what the hell "semi-formal" is supposed to mean, but she guesses she's sort of grateful that the Maeve (no, not them—their servants) had supplied her with extra sets of clothes so that she wouldn't have to wear the same thing everyday like she did back in Mitakihara. ]
Yeah! [ She calls through the door as she shoves her feet into her shoes.
When Kyouko opens her door, she's standing there in a black cocktail dress and ballet flats. Maybe she did nail this semi-formal thing. At least it's airy and easy to move around in. ]
There's a restaurant in town that has been recommended to me as having the best of everything Eros has to offer. So you should have your choice of the menu.
[Of course, he has other motives for wanting to visit that place, but he can't really tell her that. At least not while they are still in the house.
Thus he offers her an arm, to properly escort her out.]
[ Appealing as it sounds, the only way it could possibly get any better is if the restaurant was a buffet. Kyouko is satisfied with his answer and closes the door behind her as she steps out into the hallway. ]
Hell yeah, the sooner we get there, the better!
[ At least she seems to be in a better mood today than she was the day before, and she practically drags Loki out of the mansion. ]
[He simply laughs as he allows himself to be dragged downstairs and out of the mansion. The moment they reach outside, he goes over to the taxi and opens the door for her.]
After you, Kyouko.
[Honestly he's just as excited as her, but his excitement is more geared toward getting out of the house and getting a break from the Maeve. Though if she mentions a buffet to him at dinner. He may be inclined to take her to one in the future.]
[ Late afternoon on the thirteenth, a package is on your desk. It's wrapped in pretty gold paper and is the size of a small bracelet box. Inside is a very special trinket – a woven bracelet of shiny, iridescent horse hair. Finding out that the hair is unicorn hair is possible with a bit of research. Should you wear the bracelet, minor to moderate injuries will heal faster. This is limited to physical damage and not magical or those caused by substances like poison.
There are footsteps in the hall and if you're quick, you might notice Abigail turning a corner. If you look she will be gone, but could she have left the package….? ]
[ It's important to note that the bullying was done from a place of caring and friendship!! ]
What'd ya wanna talk about?
[ She sounds tired, if mildly irritated, but it's nothing personal. She's still bitter about what the witches did to her a month ago, and has mostly been keeping to herself because of it. ]
*Well that was fast. Fortunately it didn't happen somewhere like on the John or in the shower or with a client at the door.
Madoka hopes it's a long, long time before clients start showing again.*
—I...it's good to hear from you. Is... *Hesitation. The fatigue is noted. Nevermind this girl gave her a fat nose, Madoka can't help but be concerned. Still, it's not like they knew one another. And Kyouko IS calling, so asking if this was a good time to talk would be stupid.
[ Even though they're from different points in time, Kyouko still knows just enough about Madoka. Knows that, even now, she's worried about someone she considers to be a near stranger, someone who didn't hesitate to take a swing at her for what might've seemed like no apparent reason.
But Kyouko is honest. There's no point in lying because they're all at the whims of the Maeve here. ]
A few weeks ago, one of those bitches [ excuse her, witches ] had someone drag me outside and tie me to a stake. Can ya believe that!?
[ Madoka, of all people, should understand the cruel irony of it. ]
*She believed it. Madoka believed every inch of it. And it sickened her, thoroughly. Be good. Be on the up and up. Give up everything and give the guest their fantasies. Else we'll give you nightmares.
The Maeve had no love from the small teen. There was probably some irony to behold, but the girl was too trapped in that sudden bout of loathing to see it.*
It's their stupid punishments again...are—I should come over.
*Because this phone couldn't help. She wanted to hug Kyouko, even if it meant another punch. She wanted as much, before. When her friends brought her from her depression.
Friends she couldn't contact, anymore.
... who needed this hug again, she ruefully wondered?*
[ She doesn't go into detail about it, figures she doesn't need to. Madoka has been here longer than her; she knows exactly what the Maeve require of them and Kyouko is no exception.
Unfortunately, there are no outlets for her anger and frustration here and so all she can really do is sit and stew. ]
—Sure. If you want.
[ ... Or try to talk to people. That's a healthy option, she supposes. ]
*Knows? She can probably write a very nasty editorial on just how vicious, dirty, and cruel those witches could be. To say the least of the company they keep.
But mama always taught her to subscribe to Niceness Weekly.*
I will. I'm bringing snacks and we can just...talk. I think that'd be good.
*Polite speak for 'bitch the hell out of those women that held their lives by an uncomfy choke chain.*
[ The perks of having a mama to help you make Good Life Decisions. ]
The door's unlocked. Just let yourself in.
[ At least, for a moment, her tone seems to grow a little more cheery. And when Madoka arrives, she'll be ready to lounge around in her pajamas and talk about boys witches.
Because doing that was definitely not how she ended up in that position in the first place. ]
*Irony being were she that effective then we wouldn't exist at all. WHOOPS, META.*
Alright, it's a date.
*And Madoka will be on her way in some overly-fluffy seeiming sundress for a lack of other less troublesome outfits to wear (the easy clothes were in the wash). And as promised, she's got...well she WOULD have a tray of tea were it not that one of the maids from the kitchen decided to follow her with a cart.
So there you go, Kyouko. Jam pastries, scones, fig cakes, and tea. The maid bows and takes her leave and Madoka just looks pulsed. Really, she could have done it herself....*
Um, high. I got sidetracked.
*And Kyouko looks like she's got a good idea. Why NOT pajamas?*
letter;
Kyouko,

I just wanted to see if you were still around. And maybe talk...about things.
*Yes, talk to your bully—this makes legitimate sense pinky, good job*
U-um. That's all. I guess.
